Backgammon Tournaments - Introductory Guide

  Home

We all played backgammon at some point of our life, either for fun or as a
backgammon for money game, whether as online backgammon or in the traditional form of the game
.

It is a fact that we all played backgammon at least once, although we might have used different variations of the game. Well, If you thought that playing backgammon with a friend is fun, you should try playing backgammon tournaments or even backgammon for money.

Contrary to what many might think, you are not required to make any advance preparations prior to taking part in backgammon tournaments:, no special equipment is needed,  nor even great backgammon skills.

To take this a step further, I dare say that it isn't risky at all to play backgammon for money without possessing great backgammon skills: your opponents are also at your level of skill, so you are not for a single moment considered a terrible player.

I assume you understand by now that there is no reason to be afraid of backgammon tournaments, so let's move on to a short introduction to the backgammon tournaments guide. (

Lets take it step by step...

As you enter the room you should go to the registration table to sign up for the backgammon tournaments,. In case it is your first time at a place like this you should consider mentioning it to the tournament managers. (The guys sitting next to the registration table at the backgammon tournament you just entered) They will explain to you everything you need to know.

Upon  entering the backgammon tournament you will have to pay a small fee.

At each difficulty level of the backgammon tournament you will be asked to pay a different fee. For beginners the fee will be low, for the advanced players it will be higher, and for the most difficult tournament, the fees will be highest.
The fees are paid to cover the tournament's prize
.

Fees paid by competitors in the backgammon tournament will be added to the overall amount paid and will ultimately be given to the winner of the tournament.
The fees are actually what turns the backgammon tournament into a true backgammon for money game
.

After paying the fee, you will be able to play a game which isn't backgammon for money   but rather a practice game to warm yourself up, while you wait to find out who your opponent in the tournament will be.

After you meet your opponent, the game begins.

When you played backgammon tournaments with your friends or family, every game win was considered as such between the two participants. The rules are a  of organized backgammon tournament are somewhat different. In  backgammon tournaments every time you win you get X points. Before the game starts you decide which amount of points you play for. The first person to get that amount is the winner of the game.

(For example: if the backgammon tournament  rules says that you must earn 10 pts to win and every game will grant you 5 points, then you should win 2 games to advance to the next level).

The winners will be matched with other winners until only one player is left.  This particular player will be declared  winner of  the backgammon tournament
and will collect the prize. Don't take chances, check the backgammon tournament rules which are there for the public to view: every backgammon tournament includes a page of rules
.

You must also note that the rules of the game may somewhat differ from one
place to another, so it is recommended to ask other players participating in the
backgammon tournament about local rules.

That's all, have fun and if you play backgammon for money then Ii wish you a very fat wallet.
