Backgammon
variation: Tapa. Tapa is a very famous game in Bulgaria.
Backgammon tips and rules for tapa - the part that is similar to
backgammon.
Just like n a regular backgammon game: You should decide which
player plays first , to do so you and your opponent should roll a die,
the one with the highest score starts first. Next you should roll the
dice and move your discs according to the score on the dice. It is
forbidden to move your discs backwards. You need to move your discs into
your home board in order to win.
Backgammon
tips and rules for tapa - the part that differs from backgammon
The difference between backgammon and tapa lies in the type of
"hitting" used during the game. If you have a point occupied by a single
disc which is hit by the opponent's disc - it isn't taken out. In fact,
the opponent's checker rests on top of the disc and by doing so scores a
point. You can also win points in the usual way by placing two or more
of your discs in the same point.
Backgammon tips and rules for tapa - don't leave a single disc in
a point inside your home board. If you do so and your disc is covered by
an opponent's disc, the disc is lost to you (unless the opponent has
done the same, in which case it's a tie).
Backgammon
tips and rules for tapa - Long double
Long double is a high number (five or six) you get on both dice. It is
extremely useful at the beginning of the game because the opponent will
probably have some points occupied by single discs in his home board,
and you may be able to cover them. The closer to his home board you
cover his discs - the better, because later you will free the points
when you will be bearing off.
Backgammon tips and rules for tapa - If your discs are covered.
If your discs got covered by the opponent what you have to do is to
cover his discs on the other side, if you do that - the opponent will
have to free your discs because he won't have any other options for
movement.
Backgammon
variation: acey-deucy.
Backgammon tips and rules for acey deucy - the beginning.
In this variation of the game, you start with all of your discs located
on the board.
You move the discs just like you do in backgammon (white discs from the
black home to the white home, and the black discs from the white home to
the black home).
Backgammon
tips and rules for acey deucey - Moving the discs.
In acey ducey you can move any disc you want at any time, even if you
have discs to bring in. When you roll the dice and you get 1-2 or
acey-deucy, you should first play ace-deuce and then you should play any
number you want
4 times. (In backgammon, if you get double you play 4 times the
number you want, in acey-deucy if your dice show 1-2 you can play any
double you think is good). After rolling the doubles you should play
again.
Backgammon
variation: Narde.
This variation of game invented in Russia.
Backgammon
tips and rules for Narde - The part that's similar to Backgammon.
Just like in a backgammon game: You should decide which player
plays first , to do so you and your opponent should roll a die, the one
with the highest score starts first. After that you should rolel the
dice and move your discs according to the numbers which you got on the
dice. It is forbidden to move your discs backwards. You need to move
your discs into your home board in order to win.
Backgammon
tips and rules for Narde - The part that's different from backgammon.
Both Players move in a clock-wise direction until they start bearing
off. In this specific form of backgammon you can't 'hit' other discs.
If some point is covered by an opponent's disc - you just can't use that
point. If you roll double then you move 2 times and not four.
Backgammon tips and rules for narde - Bearing off
Finally, when all of your 15 disc are placed in your home board you
should start 'bearing off'. "Bearing off" means that you remove your
discs from the home board. You should bear off your disc by rolling the
dice, if the dice score is similar to the point on which the disc
resides, then you should remove the disc
from the board. If there isn't a number on the specific point which was
rolled by the dice, you should move with a disc to a higher-numbered
point.
If still there's no such point, then you should remove a disc from the
highest point occupied by a disc.
To win in narde,
you simply need more luck then brains.
Backgammon
variation: Tabula
This variation of backgammon originated in Greece and emigrated
to England.
Backgammon tips and rules for Tabula - Winning condition.
A winning condition is achieved when you move all your discs to your
home board and then bear them off.
Backgammon
tips and rules - How to play?
In this variation of backgammon you play with 3 dice rather than
two. You need to decide who will play first, you or your opponent. To do
so, you and your opponent should throw a dice, the higher number starts
first. You begin with your discs off the board. In Tabula you and your
opponent enter the board together and move your discs in the same
direction.
Backgammon
tips and rules - Entering discs to the game.
To enter discs into the game, you need to move the disc to a number that
you rolled on one of your dice. For example, if your diceshow 4-2-1, you
can place a disc in the forth, second or 1st point. You can't enter a
disc into a point occupied by two or more of your opponent's discs.
Furthermore, it's forbidden to move any disc to the next part of the
board until all of your discs have entered the game.
Backgammon
tips and rules in Tabula - Hitting.
If you have a point which is occupied by a single disc, then you prevent
your opponent's disc from landing on it. If your opponent's disc lands
on your disc, it is considered a 'hit'. In case of a hit, you should
place the disc which has just been hit on the bar.
Backgammon
tips and rules in Tabula - Bearing off.
finally, when all of your 15 discs are placed on your home board, you
should start 'bearing off'. "Bearing off" means removing your discs from
the home board. You should bear off your disc by rolling a dice, if the
dice number is similar to the point on which the disc resides, then you
should remove the disc
from the board. If there isn't a number on the point which was rolled by
the dice, you should move a disc to a higher-numbered point. If still
there's no such point, then you should remove a disc from the highest
point which is occupied by a disc. You don't have to bear of if you want
to make any other move. |
